The Eau Claire Curling Club is proud to host the 2026 World Mixed Doubles Playdown. Eight of the nation's top mixed doubles teams, including Olympic silver medalists Cory Thiesse and Korey Dropkin, will compete for the right to represent the United States at the 2027 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship in Lohja, Finland, January 4 to 10, 2027.

Our goal is to share the sport of curling, and our Club, with the Eau Claire community. Admission is free, so stop in for a draw or stay all weekend.
Beverages will be available for purchase throughout the event. Food service will not be offered.

Volunteer
Events like this are not possible without your help! Choose a role below and sign up for the shifts that work for you.
Timer
Timing is an important job, and it comes with the best seat in the house. New timers are welcome and will be trained. Returning timers are encouraged to help too, and a refresher course will be offered before the event.
Level II Official
Serve as a game umpire or timing supervisor. This role requires completion of the USA Curling Level I and Level II officiating courses.
Club Ambassador
Lend a hand wherever it's needed: greeting and assisting teams and guests, bartending, end of day cleanup, and more. You'll watch some amazing curling while you help.
Ice crew: Our ice technicians will need help as well. A separate signup will be posted here soon.

Lodging
Traveling to Eau Claire for the event? We have secured room blocks with special rates at three hotels near the Club, available to participants and spectators alike. These properties made the special rates possible, so we encourage you to support them.
Book early. Each hotel holds its special rate only until its room block deadline, and deadlines may differ from hotel to hotel. Reserving early is the best way to lock in the rate.
Booking after a deadline? Call the hotel directly, explain that you are attending the World Mixed Doubles Playdown, and ask for the room block rate. If rooms are still available, the hotel will likely extend it.
